We are incredibly proud to share the inspiring story of Myrta Gschaar, a long-time friend and valued client of MPM. Myrta’s unwavering dedication to honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, is a mission we are honored to support and bring to your attention.
For Myrta, 9/11 is not just a date in history — it is a deeply personal loss. Her husband, Robert Joseph Gschaar, was working on the 92nd floor of Tower 2 as a senior commercial underwriter for Aon. He had only been in his new role for just over a month when tragedy struck.
Myrta vividly remembers his final phone call from the tower. In the days that followed, the shock and grief were so overwhelming that she required a wheelchair for several months. This profound loss became the driving force behind her mission: to ensure the memory of those who perished — and the lessons we learned — are carried forward for generations.
Building a Legacy: Never Forget 9/11 Memorial Inc.
From that mission came the creation of Never Forget 9/11 Memorial Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to remembrance and education. Its goal is to establish a serene memorial park and educational center in Bedford Township, Michigan — a place where people can reflect, honor the fallen, and learn about the significance of September 11th.
The future memorial site, located at 8575 Jackman Rd, Temperance, MI 48182, is currently an open piece of land awaiting its transformation. To begin excavation, the project must raise at least $15,000, a milestone that has not yet been reached. With material costs rising daily, community support is more important than ever. Myrta is praying to begin digging this year — and with enough help, that vision can become reality.
How You Can Help
This important project depends entirely on donations and community generosity. Every contribution — large or small — brings the memorial closer to becoming a reality. Visit neverforget911memorial.org to learn more and contribute directly to the memorial’s construction.
A Story of Resilience
Myrta shares her journey in her self-published memoir, Silent Pain, Second Chance: A Memoir — a powerful story of love, loss, resilience, and faith.
One of the most moving details is the story of the $2 bill. When Robert proposed, he gave Myrta a $2 bill as a symbol of their “second chance” at love, asking her to carry it always. Five years after 9/11, Robert’s wallet was recovered from the wreckage — inside was his own $2 bill. Today, the two bills are displayed together at the 9/11 Memorial in Manhattan, a testament to enduring love and hope.
Each first edition copy is $25, with 100% of proceeds going toward building the memorial. Reach out to our team if you'd like to purchase a copy.
