The Schwab Executive Leadership Program is an exclusive one-year program designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the Registered Independent Advisor (RIA) space, and I'm honored to be a part of it. The program's structure is truly unique, blending top-tier academic curriculum from renowned institutions like Michigan's Ross School of Business, Wharton, Harvard, and MIT with the practical expertise of Charles Schwab. It's a powerful combination that emphasizes relationship building and real-world application, equipping RIA leaders with the tools to confidently manage and lead their firms.
My journey began with an intensive 11-week course focused on positive leadership. This has been an incredibly enriching experience, delving into strategies for improving team performance and engagement, fostering positive organizational scholarship, and cultivating inclusive leadership practices – all within a positive leadership framework. One of the highlights has been learning alongside 40 other RIA leaders from across the country. The opportunity to connect with and learn from their diverse perspectives and experiences has been invaluable.
After several weeks of virtual learning, we recently convened for a full-day, in-person workshop. This was a fantastic opportunity to connect with my cohort face-to-face. We dove deep into our individual strengths, leveraging the insights from the Gallup CliftonStrengths® for Leaders assessment. We explored how to effectively utilize these strengths within the RIA Positive Leadership Framework. The day culminated in a dynamic and engaging improv session led by the world-renowned Four Day Weekend improv comedy group. It was a fun and memorable way to reinforce the concepts we had been learning.
The program's structure is designed for maximum impact, alternating between 5-week periods of hands-on learning and 5-week periods of reflection and implementation. The knowledge I'm gaining is truly energizing, and I'm already putting some of the concepts into practice within my own firm. It's hard to contain my excitement about the potential for positive change!
